Oil workers ambushed in Pakistan
Gunmen have ambushed a convoy of oil company workers in north-western Pakistan, killing six people and seizing two others, officials say.
The attack happened in the Kohat region, as the oil workers were returning from an exploration site in the area.
All the victims are believed to be Pakistani nationals, the officials say.
Kohat is a volatile area close to the Afghan border where the Taliban and other Islamic militants are active.
"Two company officials were killed along with four soldiers from the paramilitary Frontier Corps, who were providing an escort to the team," senior police official Fazal Naeem told the AFP news agency.
The workers were employed by a Hungarian oil and gas exploration firm, reports say.
The gunmen fled in waiting cars after the ambush.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
